From July 30 to August 21, 2016, Agostino Veroni presented a solo exhibition of Cinque Terre oil paintings titled “Lights, Colors, and Emotions in Cinque Terre” at Galleria Calandra in Manarola.
The show featured a collection of Cinque Terre oil paintings that captured the soul of the five iconic villages: Manarola, Riomaggiore, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso. These modern artworks, painted in oil with a palette knife, were often created en plein air—directly on site—to absorb the essence of the Ligurian coast.
“The landscape of Cinque Terre is a constant source of inspiration for me. The salty air of the sea merges with the rugged rocks of the cliffs. Flowers and plants appear here and there… Scents blend in the air… The landscape offers unforgettable contrasts and views.” – Agostino Veroni
This deep emotional connection is evident in each painting. Veroni’s expressive technique—bold knife strokes, vibrant pigments, and layered textures—translates light, shadow, and coastal atmosphere onto canvas.
The works in this exhibition highlight the harmony between nature and emotion, showing the Mediterranean’s unique beauty through the eyes of a contemporary Italian painter.
